MEET
Doris Ann Hendrix:

Our Spotlight member for February 2026 is Doris Ann Hendrix. Doris Ann Hendrix is the epitome of an active and dedicated DKG woman. She has been an active member of DKG since 1974. She served as Tennessee State Organization President from 1999-2001 and attended the International Leadership Management Seminar (now DKG Ignite) in 1988. Doris Ann attended every Seminar in Purposeful Living offered since 1978. At the chapter level she served as Beta Chapter corresponding secretary and president.

In addition to her service as Tennessee State Organization President, Doris Ann has chaired and served on numerous state and chapter committees, bringing her expertise to planning, governance, and member engagement initiatives. Her dedication to DKG is reflected in her remarkable record of participation; she has attended 44 state conventions as well as numerous regional and international conferences and conventions since 1978, only recently stepping back from international events. A sought-after presenter, she has conducted more than 50 workshops at the area and state levels and has frequently been invited to speak at chapter events throughout Tennessee, sharing her knowledge and inspiring members wherever she goes.

As if Doris Ann has not contributed enough to DKG and Tennessee State Organization, she founded the Xi State Vision Foundation in 2002, which provides funding for members to conduct educational projects and participate in professional development opportunities. She also served as editor of the Tennessee State Organization newsletter for ten years, helping to communicate initiatives, programs, and member accomplishments. She is recognized as a constant motivator and influencer within DKG, having served as a mentor to many members throughout her decades of service.

Doris Ann also has had a definite impact on education. She was a forty-five year mathematics educator, having taught in Metro Nashville Schools, Tennessee Preparatory School, and the Woodland Hills Youth Development Center. Through the Vision Foundation, she has provided funding for DKG members to implement educational projects and pursue professional development, directly impacting teachers and students across Tennessee. Her involvement in organizations such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Middle Tennessee Math Teachers, and the Metro Nashville Education Association further demonstrates her lifelong dedication to improving educational practice and supporting educators.

Finally, some of Doris Ann’s other accolades include that she served as the secretary of the Nashville Cordell Board for the United Nations Association of the United States of America for the 2011-2012 year. She was also honored as the Metro Nashville Teacher of the Year in 1992, Teacher of Tennessee State in 1980, and Tennessee Education Association Distinguished Classroom Teacher Award in 1973. She is also a life member of the Girl Scouts of America.

Congratulations to Doris Ann Hendrix on being an outstanding model for all DKG members!
