Our Spotlight member for January 2026 is Lisa Yates. As we welcome the new year, we are pleased to shine the spotlight on Texas member Lisa Yates. Inducted into the Lambda Omicron Chapter in 2008, Lisa served as both First Vice President and President. Under her leadership, the chapter grew significantly, thanks to her dedication and the introduction of multiple chapter mixers and district events.
Lisa expanded her service beyond her chapter by joining the Programs and Service Projects Committee of the Texas State Organization (TSO). In 2017, she became the Area 8 Coordinator, acting as a liaison between the Texas State President and the area chapters. She organized and led an Area 8 workshop to train chapter officers in their roles. Following the success of this workshop, Lisa was appointed Chair of the Programs and Service Projects Committee, where she presented workshops at the TSO Convention. During this period, she also attended the International Convention in Austin, Texas, serving as a translator for delegates from Costa Rica and providing visitor support.
As Personal and Professional Enrichment Chair, Mrs. Yates collaborated with the TSO President to plan and schedule all workshops at both conventions during the 2021-2023 biennium. She processed requests for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits and presented two distinct workshops at the conventions.
As a member of the Leadership Development of Chapter Presidents Committee, Lisa developed four Zoom leadership sessions and presented at the first regional conference. She currently serves on the TSO Nominating Committee.
Lisa is a distinguished educator with 24 years of experience in World Languages. In 2025, she was honored with both the Texas State Teacher of the Year for World Languages and the Excellence in Teaching Award, presented by the Texas Foreign Language Association.
Lisa Yates truly exemplifies the ideals and purposes of Delta Kappa Gamma. We are proud to highlight her accomplishments and dedication.
Congratulations on your International Spotlight, Lisa!
