Marie-Louise Nordesjö:
Our Spotlight member for November is Marie-Louise Nordesjö. This month we shine the membership spotlight on Marie-Louise Nordesjö. DKG Sweden has for ages been supported by Marie-Louise, both explicitly and implicitly. She has been on the Swedish national board and in many different positions, but a lot of her work is done outside of committees and boards, thereby may not be as recognized and known as others whose voices are heard more strongly.
She has recruited so many new members throughout the years, and is always hard working. She connects the chapters like no other member and she is always helpful and inspiring. She is the solid rock that DKG Sweden relies on, and especially Epsilon in Uppsala. Her network is huge, both nationally and internationally and she has knowledge that no one else has about the Society and how it works. She is a warm and caring person who deserves to be in the spotlight since her work is not always seen but is sometimes done without so many knowing about it. She travels a lot and is an expert on connecting people and presenting the Society in a positive and interesting way, making people curious about it and wanting to know more.
Marie-Louise easily picks up the phone or walks into offices and educational buildings and is welcomed everywhere. She not only sends emails, which so many people do, but she actually acts. Maybe it may not sound creative or innovative, but these days most people only connect via emails, but Marie-Louise actually connects with all kinds of people in person.
Marie-Louise is a humble leader. She naturally receives trust from others and is not afraid of taking on different key positions. She has been on the board, several committees and participated in conferences.
When teaching she was a very valued teacher for children with special needs and in special classes. When she retired, she was truly missed at the school and everyone still knows who she is, even many years after her retirement. She is interested in culture, theater and people. You would never think she is as old as she is, since she is so active and has such a big network.
