DKG Girl Scout Patch creates a natural connection

If you are looking for a project that will allow your chapter to connect with another organization in your community, consider working with a local Girl Scout Troop in earning the DKG Girl Scout Patch.

The first project in San Antonio was developed by members in Zeta Beta Chapter (TX) and involved two local Girl Scout troops. The council patch (it is not a badge, but a council patch) that was developed will remain a SW Texas Council Patch but is available to chapters anywhere upon completion of the project. Therefore, if your chapter chooses to develop a project in your local community, the patches will be available for order through Becky Jennings at the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, rather than through the Girl Scout catalog.

Projects strengthen chapters when all members join together with one focus and support the project. Once your chapter has discussed the possibility and you are ready to commit the time, effort and resources necessary to ensure success for the girls and the project, please contact the Girl Scout council in your local area to find a potential troop. It is crucial that you work through the council in order to ensure that a meaningful and productive collaboration is developed between your local Girl Scout council, the troop leaders and your chapter members.

A sample curriculum, available by email from Nita Scott at Society Headquarters, can be adapted to meet the needs of the troop in your local community. Because the curriculum was carefully considered by both chapter members and the Girl Scout leaders and directors who developed it, you should maintain the identified number of activities required for each scout level.

Chapters outside of the United States might consider connecting with World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to find troops of Girl Guides and USA Girl Scouts Overseas.

For more details regarding the project, contact Nita at nitas@dkg.org.
